Mind on God! Meditation

To have a deeper devotional life and abiding relationship with God, it is vital that we spend time in spiritual meditation of His word. To keep the mind uplifted towards heaven, it is beneficial to meditate and allow the mind grasp the wonderful truths found in the Word of God. The Bible says we should meditate “day and night” (Psalm 1:2) and the “meditations of our hearts” should be “acceptable in the sight of the Lord” (Psalm 19:14) To be drawn closer to God we must be careful of what we watch on television, what music we listen to, the places we go and even the people we associate with. We meditate with our minds, which is why our minds must be "stayed on God” (Isaiah 26:3). We cannot grow in our relationship with the Lord if we allow our minds to constantly and carelessly wander on the things of this world. Jesus wants to renew and transform our minds (Romans 12:2) and He desires that we “bring every thought to the obedience of Christ” (1 Corinthians 10:5). To help form a devotional meditation, we must "overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21). Replace the television and worldly music with scripture songs, piano hymns, Bible lessons, history documentaries with moral lessons, sermons, health lectures and the Spirit of Prophecy. Now is the time to train our minds to think of Jesus for by beholding we become changed and “as a man thinks in his heart so is he” (Proverbs 23:7)
