YOU talk to God! Prayer
Talking to God is vital to maintain a strong connection to God, the source of spiritual life and power. It is the Christians privilege to take our joys, sorrows, heartaches, pains, wants, desires and needs to our Heavenly Father who desires to hear and answer or prayers. Jesus told his disciples “WHEN you pray, enter into your closet” Matthew 6:6. Jesus didn’t say “IF” you pray, but WHEN you pray. Prayer shouldn’t be conditional or only when we feel like occasionally, but prayer should consistent. Practicing the attitude of prayer will help us to become stronger in our walk with the Lord. We are told in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing”. When Jesus says WHEN you pray, that also points to certain times. If you decided to come by my house and I asked you “when”, I would wait for you to give me a time. The Bible gives us certain times that we should pray throughout the day. Jesus spent time in prayer alone with God in the morning (Mark 1:35) and also in the evening (Matthew 14:23). We are to pray evening, morning and at noon (Psalm 55:17) day and night (Psalm 88:1, 2) and continue in a attitude of prayer throughout the day (Colossians 4:2). If you would like to develop a closer relationship with God by cultivating a more intimate prayer life, it would be well to set TIMES for prayer. Set your phone alarm at certain times of the day to pray. You are invited to join Akeem J. Brett’s schedule to pray throughout the day. 6am, 9am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm and if by any chance you find yourself awake at midnight 12am spend some time in prayer. God desires to hear and answers your prayers, but He can only answer the prayers that are prayed!
